Documentary Video Production Across Alberta
Over the course of 2024, The Distillery worked closely with the Alberta Emerald Foundation to produce 13 short documentary films for the 6th season of the Emerald Documentary Series. The series highlights environmental leadership in the province, featuring the organizations, projects, and individuals honoured by the foundation’s annual Emerald Awards.
This project brought us across Alberta, including video production in Edmonton, Calgary, Cold Lake, Taber, and beyond. From drone shots to in-depth interviews, we brought together all of the tools of documentary video production to best tell each story. One of our key goals was to let each video stand on its own, while still being part of a consistent whole. We embraced different choices in the tone, format, and content of the individual documentaries to best represent each award-winning subject. Being under 2-minutes each, it was a welcome challenge to distill the essence of each story down to the most critical and compelling elements. We also produced a short trailer to help promote the 2024 doc series.
